Lawn Care: Best Time to Water
The best time to water your lawn is between 4 am and 10 am. Watering your grass at night can lead to sitting water, creating a breeding ground for mildew, fungus, and other plant diseases that thrive in wet, humid environments.
You also don't want to over water your grass because that too can lead to fungus. A good rule of thumb is to water your lawn every three to seven days in the summer, depending on your soil type.
If rain is scarce, you should continue to water your lawn — just don't over do it. In fact, it is a good idea to continue to water your lawn until the ground freezes.
Furthermore, fall is a great time to reseed or lay sod to those areas of your lawn that are thin or dead — just remember to keep these areas hydrated.
